Talk to a running World without shipping an update. Your game registers the commands it understands, such as announce. You type them into the World’s console in your creator dashboard, the game runs the command, and its reply appears next to it.

Games like this

Admins type commands to broadcast a message or change the time of day.

What you get

You type a command into the dashboard console; the running World's server runs your game's handler and the reply appears in the command history. You type a command into the dashboard console; the running World's server runs your game's handler and the reply appears in the command history. Open your creator dashboard, then Runtime, then a World, then one of its running servers. There you get:
  • The game’s output, refreshed every few seconds while you watch.
  • A command line for one command at a time. help lists the commands your game has registered.
  • Command history with each command, whether it worked, and your game’s reply.
Only the game’s owners, admins and operators can send commands, and each command goes to exactly the server you picked. Your game decides what every command does; Summer never runs anything your game didn’t register. Announcements

Send a message to everyone in the World, such as “Server restarts in 10 minutes” or “Welcome to the weekend event”.

Add an announce command. I type a message in the dashboard; every player sees it.

Live events and tuning

Start an event, change the weather, or turn on double rewards in a running World, so you can react to your players without publishing a new version.

Add commands for live events. Start events and change settings in a running World.

Look inside a World

Ask a World how it’s doing: how many players are in it, which round it’s on, or what state an event is in.

Add status commands. Ask a running World for its players, round and events.

Keep commands quick: each one runs inside the World while players are playing. If a command’s result ever shows as unknown, check the World before sending it again. Summer never sends a command twice by itself.

Not sure which fits?

Plan console commands for my game. Your agent reads your project and proposes useful commands. No code.

Testing it on your machine

The console talks to hosted Worlds from your creator dashboard. On your own machine, test the code behind each command by running it from your game while it plays in Local Play, then try the real commands on a hosted World.
