Start with nothing installed. You describe your idea on summerengine.com, and Summer plans the game with you: a few questions, then a storyboard of concept pictures. The Summer app on your computer then builds it. You need: a web browser. To build the game in step 4: a Windows 10 or newer PC, or a Mac with Apple silicon.
1

Describe your game

Go to summerengine.com and type your idea into the box on the page. For example: “A cozy farming game on a floating island where I trade with sky whales.”
2

Answer a few questions

Summer asks a few quick questions about your game. Answer them, then sign up or sign in to see your storyboard. The account is free.
3

Shape the storyboard

Summer draws a board of concept pictures for your game: its world, characters and moments. Pick the ones that fit, or ask for changes in plain words, such as “make it look like a watercolor painting”.If everything worked, you see: your storyboard, saved to your account.
4

Build it in the Summer app

Press Build. Then install the Summer app and sign in with the same account. Your game is in the sidebar under Your games. Click Build it on this computer, and Summer starts building from your plan.If everything worked, you see: the game in the editor next to the chat, with Summer’s steps in the chat as it builds.

What else you can do in the browser

Summer Studio runs in your browser and works on the games you build anywhere:
  • Make assets: 3D models, sprite sheets, tilesets, sound and music. See Summer Studio.
  • Publish: the store page, the build upload and going live on Summer Games. See Publish from Summer Studio.
  • Grow: players, sessions, earnings and promotions. See Summer Grow.
