# Connect your agent to publish

> Connect Claude Code, Codex, Claude or ChatGPT to the Summer Engine MCP. On your computer, the summer-engine npm MCP plus summer login --store; in the browser, the hosted MCP at mcp.summerengine.com.

Publishing uses one MCP: the **Summer Engine MCP**. It comes in two forms with the same publishing tools:

| Form | For | Adds |
| - | - | - |
| **summer-engine** (npm), on your computer | Claude Code, Codex and other agents on your computer | Summer Engine on your disk: export, export templates, upload from disk |
| **mcp.summerengine.com**, hosted | Claude and ChatGPT in the browser or the app | Nothing to install |

Both reach the Summer Games store." width="880" height="280" data-path="images/guide-art/publishing/servers-light.svg" />

A chat app in the browser cannot reach your computer, so it cannot export. Export there with Summer Engine yourself, or use an agent on your computer.

<Note>
  Agent publishing is rolling out. It is available to invited creators while the store opens it to everyone.

## On your computer: Claude Code, Codex and others

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the Summer Engine MCP">
    Run the setup for your agent. It writes the MCP config and installs the Summer skills.

    ```bash theme={null}
    npx -y summer-engine@latest setup claude-code --yes   # or: setup codex --yes
    ```

    Other agents: [MCP setup](/mcp/setup).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in to the store">
    Once per computer:

    ```bash theme={null}
    npx -y summer-engine@latest login --store
    ```

    Your browser opens. Sign in to your Summer account and choose **Allow**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart your agent">
    The MCP now lists the publishing tools next to the engine tools: `summer_store_*`, `summer_build_*`, `summer_upload_image_*` and more.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The publishing tools need **summer-engine 3.3.0** or later. `npx -y summer-engine@latest` always runs the newest version.

The store sign-in is saved in `~/.summer/oauth-token` and renews itself.

| Command | What it does |
| - | - |
| `summer login` | Core sign-in for the engine and Summer's cloud tools. |
| `summer login --store` | Store sign-in. The MCP then loads the publishing tools. |
| `summer login --store --force` | Registers this computer again, if store sign-in keeps failing. |
| `summer logout` | Removes the sign-ins. |

During sign-in the MCP listens on port 47615, 47616 or 47617. Keep one of them free.

## In the browser: Claude

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the connector">
    On [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) or in Claude Desktop, open **Settings → Connectors** and choose **Add custom connector**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste the address">
    Name it **Summer Engine** and paste `https://mcp.summerengine.com/mcp`. Choose **Add**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Claude opens summerengine.com. Sign in to your Summer account, check the app name, and choose **Allow**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The connector then works in every Claude app with the same Claude account, the phone app too.

## In the browser: ChatGPT

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add Summer Engine">
    On [chatgpt.com](https://chatgpt.com), add a custom MCP server (connector) with the address `https://mcp.summerengine.com/mcp` and OAuth sign-in. ChatGPT may ask you to turn on developer mode first; where that setting lives changes, so check OpenAI's help if you do not see it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    ChatGPT opens summerengine.com. Sign in, check the app name, and choose **Allow**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What the agent may do

When you sign in, you let the agent act as you on the store, with one limit: **it cannot publish**. A submit from an agent waits for you to click **Approve publishing**. The store refuses any other publishing step from an agent. See [Approve publishing](/publishing/owner-approval).

## Let your agent set itself up

<Prompt description="**Connect yourself to Summer for publishing.** Your agent adds the Summer Engine MCP and tells you the one sign-in to do.">
  Connect yourself to the Summer Engine MCP so you can publish my game on
  Summer Games. Follow
  [https://docs.summerengine.com/publishing/connect-your-agent.md](https://docs.summerengine.com/publishing/connect-your-agent.md).

  * Run the Summer Engine setup for the agent you are.
  * Then tell me to run `npx -y summer-engine@latest login --store` and sign
    in, because you cannot sign in for me.
  * After I have signed in, list my Summer projects and my store games to
    check that it works.
</Prompt>

## Check it works

Ask your agent: "List my Summer projects and my Summer Games store games." It calls `summer_list_projects` and `summer_store_list_games`. If it says the store did not accept its sign-in, see [Troubleshooting](/publishing/summer-games-troubleshooting#the-store-did-not-accept-the-sign-in).
