# Agent permissions and approvals

> What agents you connect to Summer may do without asking: six switches in Studio > Settings > Agent permissions. When a change asks, your agent gives you an approval link. Agent activity lists every change, with Undo.

Summer is the game engine built for AI. Any agent you connect builds, tests and publishes your game. Six switches say what it may do without asking.

## The six switches

They are in **Studio > Settings > Agent permissions** (`https://www.summerengine.com/studio?tab=settings`). They apply to every app you connect, like Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. These defaults apply now. You can change them soon. Until then, Summer Games still asks the game's owner before an agent publishes, and price, A/B test and member changes ask you first.

| Switch | By default | What it covers |
| - | - | - |
| **Make and build** | On | Edit drafts, scenes, plans and uploads, and start builds. |
| **Spend credits** | On | Generate assets and run paid builds, within your credits and auto top-up limit. |
| **Publish** | On | Publish store pages, versions and releases. Summer's store review still runs first. |
| **Prices and live changes** | On | Change prices and sales, start or stop A/B tests, change member roles. |
| **Delete for good** | Off | Delete or remove things for good. |
| **Contact people** | Off | Send invites and other emails to real people. |

Reads never ask. Each operation names the switch it needs: see [Operations](/mcp/operations).

## When a switch is off

Your agent asks you first. Changes Summer Games still asks for work the same way. The call answers `needs_approval` with a link:

```text theme={null}
https://www.summerengine.com/studio/approvals/<id>
```

If you have Studio open in a tab, a card shows there too. It says what your agent wants to do, with a button to approve it and one to turn it down. **Nothing changes until you approve.** Your agent waits with `jobs.wait` and goes on when you answer.

A request for your own yes expires after 24 hours. A request for a game owner's yes expires after 7 days.

## What always asks

Some changes ask you every time, whatever the switches say:

* changing your agent permissions (an agent can turn a switch off, never on);
* auto top-up settings;
* entering a jam (you agree to the jam rules);
* the monthly limit for your analytics events.

## Agent activity and Undo

**Studio > Settings > Agent activity** lists what your connected agents changed or asked for, newest first. Requests that wait for you show **Review**.

**Undo** puts back:

* prices, sales and country prices;
* member roles;
* team names;
* the analytics event limit.

## Summer's review still runs

Publishing never skips Summer's store review. A game goes live on Summer Games only after the review passes.

Until Summer Games follows the switches, it asks the game's owner to approve an agent's publish; the answer is `needs_approval` with the owner's approval link. See [Approvals](/publishing/owner-approval).

## Credits

With **Spend credits** on, your agent spends within your credits and the monthly limit of your auto top-up. It does not ask per call. When credits run out, the answer is the error `no_credits` with one link: `https://www.summerengine.com/studio/credits`. See [Account and billing](/essentials/account-billing).

## For agents

* Read `status` on every answer. `done`: it happened. `needs_approval`: give the person `approval.url`, then call `summer_jobs_wait` with `job.id` until the job ends.
* Never say a change happened while it waits for approval.
* `dryRun: true` shows what a call would change and which approval it needs. Nothing changes.
* The answer shapes and error codes: [Operations](/mcp/operations#the-answer).
