# Publish your game

> Export one file from the editor, make your store page in Summer Studio, upload, and go live on summer.games once Summer has reviewed it.

Publishing takes your project to a page on summer.games that players can find,
download and play. You export your game as one file in the editor, make its
store page in Summer Studio, upload the file, and submit the page for review.
Once Summer approves it, you choose when it goes live.

## Where players get your game

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="summer.games" icon="globe">

  </Card>

  <Card title="iPhone, Mac and Windows" icon="monitor-smartphone">
    Players download and play your game in the Summer apps.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

A multiplayer game can go to iPhone, Mac and Windows, and Summer runs its
server for you. A single-player game goes to iPhone.

## How it works

<img className="block dark:hidden" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a/images/guide-art/publish/flow-light.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a&q=85&s=a276a87b7b0c38e7f35626929de22eec" alt="Five steps: export one file in the editor, make your store page in Studio, upload the file and let Summer check it, submit for review, then go live on summer.games." width="880" height="230" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/flow-light.svg" />

<img className="hidden dark:block" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a/images/guide-art/publish/flow-dark.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a&q=85&s=ebac2ff50dd2b9c60105f66eb3dd0863" alt="Five steps: export one file in the editor, make your store page in Studio, upload the file and let Summer check it, submit for review, then go live on summer.games." width="880" height="230" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/flow-dark.svg" />

Saving a draft or uploading a file never releases your game. Nothing reaches
players until Summer has approved your page and you choose to go live.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Export your game">
    In the editor, open **Project > Export**, pick the **summer.games** preset
    and click **Export Project**. You get one `.zip` file with everything
    Summer needs: your game and, for a multiplayer game, its server.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Make your store page">
    Go to [summerengine.com/publish](https://summerengine.com/publish), enter
    your game's title and click **Create store page**. Studio then walks you
    through it: the platforms you're releasing on, a tagline and description,
    tags, key art, screenshots and an icon, and your game's age rating. A live
    preview of your summer.games page sits next to the form.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose how you earn">
    Make your game free and earn from Sparks spent in it, or set a price
    players pay once. See [Charge for your game and accept tips](/build/paid-games).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload and check">
    In **Check and submit**, upload your export under **Your exported game**
    and give it a version, such as `v1.0.0`. Summer checks it for every
    platform you picked and shows **Checks passed** or what needs a fix.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit for review">
    Click **Submit for review**. Summer staff look at your store page, and
    Studio shows where your game is in the review.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go live">
    Once your game is approved, click **Go live**. Your page is at
    `summer.games/games/<your-game>`, ready to share.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Want feedback before you go live? **Share a preview** in Studio makes a
  private link to your store page that expires on its own.
</Tip>

<Tip>
  Want your AI agent to do all of this? It can fill the store page, make the
  art, export, upload and submit through the Summer Engine MCP, and stop at
  one **Approve publishing** click for you. See
  [Create and publish your game](/publishing/summer-games).
</Tip>

## Get your game ready

Before the first upload, your agent can check that the project exports
cleanly: the right platforms are ticked in the summer.games preset, textures
are set up for every platform, and a multiplayer game has its server preset.

<img className="block dark:hidden" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a/images/guide-art/publish/bundle-light.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a&q=85&s=835eb7e3f5821c022c8bb4751a2814eb" alt="The summer.games export is one zip file holding the game for players, the server for a multiplayer game, and the game's Summer settings." width="880" height="250" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/bundle-light.svg" />

<img className="hidden dark:block" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a/images/guide-art/publish/bundle-dark.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=_ENGS2HrEIacSS6a&q=85&s=a7548796599b8aebacaee8195989b422" alt="The summer.games export is one zip file holding the game for players, the server for a multiplayer game, and the game's Summer settings." width="880" height="250" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/bundle-dark.svg" />

<Prompt description="**Get my multiplayer game ready to publish.** Server preset, platform checks and one summer.games export.">
  Get my Summer multiplayer game ready to publish on summer.games. Use the
  Summer `multiplayer-publish` skill; if you don't have it installed, find it in
  the Summer library.

  * Set up everything the summer.games export needs, including the server
    preset.
  * Run the checks the skill lists before exporting, and fix what fails.
  * Export the summer.games `.zip` and tell me where it is and which platforms it
    covers.

  Read my project first and tell me what you'll change before you change it.
</Prompt>

<Prompt description="**Get my single-player game ready to publish.** One summer.games export for iPhone.">
  Get my Summer single-player game ready to publish on summer.games. Use the
  Summer `export-and-ship` skill; if you don't have it installed, find it in
  the Summer library.

  * Set up the summer.games export preset for iPhone.
  * Check that the game starts from its main scene and runs without errors.
  * Export the summer.games `.zip` and tell me where it is.

  Read my project first and tell me what you'll change before you change it.
</Prompt>

<Prompt description="**Write my store page.** A tagline, description and tags that fit Studio's limits.">
  Read my Summer project and write the text for its summer.games store page:

  * a tagline of at most 80 characters;
  * a desktop description of 120–300 characters and a mobile one of 120–170;
  * 3–8 tags.

  Base it on what the game actually does. Then list five screenshot ideas
  that show it best, as 16:9 shots without any text on them.
</Prompt>

## Update your game

<img className="block dark:hidden" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/eLtxXPGKLmx1Sha-/images/guide-art/publish/update-light.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=eLtxXPGKLmx1Sha-&q=85&s=9e3acebb6d0652dabd5bf4e84864b947" alt="Version 1.0.0 is live while version 1.1.0 is uploaded and checked; promoting 1.1.0 makes it the live version." width="880" height="230" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/update-light.svg" />

<img className="hidden dark:block" src="https://mintcdn.com/summer-18f03259/eLtxXPGKLmx1Sha-/images/guide-art/publish/update-dark.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=eLtxXPGKLmx1Sha-&q=85&s=e6226a57612ae9ce83f26d4b15e61bea" alt="Version 1.0.0 is live while version 1.1.0 is uploaded and checked; promoting 1.1.0 makes it the live version." width="880" height="230" data-path="images/guide-art/publish/update-dark.svg" />

Export again with a new version number, such as `v1.1.0`, and click **Upload a
new export** in Studio. When it shows **Checks passed**, open **Versions**, pick
the new version and click **Promote to production**. Players keep the current
version until the new one is live. Changes to a live store page go through
review again before they appear.

<Prompt description="**Publish an update.** Bump the version and export again.">
  I want to publish an update to my Summer game. Use the Summer
  `multiplayer-publish` skill for a multiplayer game or `export-and-ship` for a
  single-player game; if you don't have them installed, find them in the Summer
  library.

  Bump the version, run the checks, export a new summer.games `.zip`, and write
  me a short list of what changed since the last version for the update notes.
</Prompt>

## Not sure you're ready?

<Prompt description="**Check my game before I publish.** Your agent reviews the project and lists what to fix. No changes.">
  Read my Summer project and tell me whether it's ready to publish on
  summer.games. Use the Summer `multiplayer-publish` or `export-and-ship`
  skill, whichever fits my game; if you don't have them installed, find them in
  the Summer library. Don't change any files yet.

  Tell me:

  1. which platforms my game can go to and what the export needs for each;
  2. anything that would fail Summer's checks, and how to fix it;
  3. what I still need for the store page: text, art and the age rating.
</Prompt>
