# Summer API quickstart for ChatGPT and Claude

> Add the Summer MCP to ChatGPT or Claude as a custom connector, sign in once with a spend limit, and make 3D models, images, video, voice, sound and music in the chat.

In ChatGPT and Claude (web, desktop and phone), the Summer API works through the Summer MCP. Nothing to install.

**1. Add the connector**

Add this address as a custom connector:

**Claude**: add a custom connector and paste the address. **ChatGPT**: turn on developer mode, then add a custom connector (an app) with the address and OAuth sign-in. Step by step: [Summer in ChatGPT and Claude](https://docs.summerengine.com/mcp/chatgpt-and-claude.md).

**2. Sign in once**

The app opens the Summer sign-in page. Sign in with your Summer account, pick a spend limit for this app and choose **Allow**.

**3. Ask for assets**

The app finds the Summer API operations with `summer_search` (`models.list`, `models.estimate`, `models.run`) and runs them with `summer_call`. The file is saved to your Summer library: open it in Summer Studio, or import it in Summer Engine by its asset id.

## What it costs

Every model has one public price: per model, image or clip, per second, or per 1,000 characters. It is the provider's list price. No markup on assets. A failed job costs nothing. The defaults:

* **Priced before it spends.** The agent reads prices from `summer api models` and prices each job for free with `summer api estimate` ([`POST /v1/estimate`](https://docs.summerengine.com/api/jobs#know-the-price-first)). Ask it for the total before a big batch.
* **Paid from your Summer credits.** Jobs use your paid credits: your plan's credits and your [top-ups](https://summerengine.com/studio/credits). No plan is needed to start.
* **A limit per agent.** You pick a spend limit when you choose **Allow**. Change it or revoke the agent any time in [Settings > Connected apps](https://summerengine.com/settings/connected-apps). See [sign-in and limits](https://docs.summerengine.com/api/sign-in.md).
